Repost This

Opnext, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPXT), a global leader in state-of-the-art laser technology, will demonstrate a 43G Tunable 5×7″ 300-pin Transponder and a dispersion robust XFP transceiver that can be used in CWDM and DWDM applications ranging from 800ps/nm through 3000ps/nm at ECOC 2007 in Berlin, Germany, September 17-19, 2007 at stand 15075.

Opnext will feature the following demonstrations at the exhibition:

Dispersion robust XFP transceiver: Used in CWDM and DWDM applications ranging from 800ps/nm through 3000ps/nm. Dispersion robust modules improve operating and capital expense for service providers by reducing or eliminating the number of dispersion compensating fiber and multi-stage erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) necessary for transmission.

43G Tunable 5×7″ 300-pin Transponder using binary coding and incorporating the SFI-5 interface for Metro applications: Demonstrating this technology is the Opnext TRV7BA0. This transponder makes possible the move from discrete components to an integrated solution for up to 43G line-side applications.

“These are exciting times for 40G and 10G metropolitan and long haul network deployments. We believe the technologies we are demonstrating at ECOC 2007 are key elements to enabling these markets,” said Ed Cornejo, vice president of product marketing for Opnext. “Opnext continues to invest in photonic device research and development that permit the integration of such offerings.”

Further MSA-compliant modules on display during ECOC include:

10Gbit/s Modules:

Opnext’s full lineup of 300-pin transponders and XENPAK transceivers covers all applications, from legacy multimode fiber to long reach (80km and WDM). The X2 transceiver is a follow on to XENPAK and has been adopted by major enterprise switch manufacturers. X2 transceiver power consumption is about half that of XENPAK in a smaller footprint that can be used for legacy multimode fiber to long reach single mode fiber (80km and WDM). The XFP transceiver is a follow on to 300pin TDM and some DWDM applications. The XFP transceiver has been widely adopted by telecom community. However, the 300-pin module is still popular for tunable applications with no sign of slowing. On the horizon is the SFP+ transceiver for 8G storage and10GbE enterprise applications. Opnext is a technology and market leader in the 10Gbit/s Ethernet transceivers, offering a complete portfolio which includes; 10GBASE-CX4, 10GBASE-SR, 10GBASE- LR, 10GBase-ER, 10GBASE-ZR, and 10GBASE-DWDM.

40Gbit/s Modules:

Pushing the envelope of speed and technology, Opnext has released a 40G, 300-pin SR-1 Transponder. The new module,TRV7B10xN is fully compliant to the 300-pin MSA and ITU-T G.693 for Optical Interface, OIF SFI-5 standards and includes a MUX/DMUX for Optical Interface with STM and 300-pin MSA connector and pin assignment enabling easy module upgrades. The TRV7B10xN module is built upon Opnext’s proven optical device technology. Since being the first company to demonstrate 40G transmission at ECOC 2001, Opnext has demonstrated industry leadership in 40G transmission.

SFP:

Opnext’s SFP portfolio covers all standard bit rates and protocols, from GbE and FC, to 155Mbit/s, 622Mbit/s and 2.5Gbit/s for SONET, SDH and ATM applications. The distances supported range from very short multimode fiber applications, for the GbE and FC protocols, all the way up to 80km and beyond for the single mode fiber SONET, SDH and GbE protocols. The transceiver designs have been optimized for cost and performance, can operate across extended temperature ranges, and provide advanced real-time performance monitoring capabilities.

Additionally, on Wednesday, September 19th, Opnext’s Noriko Sasada will present on “Un-cooled operation (10°C to 85°C) of a 10.7-Gbit/s 1.55-mm electro-absorption modulator integrated DFB laser for 40-km transmission.” The presentation will be given during Session 8.1 in Hall 3.

Exhibiting at ECOC 2007

Opnext will be located at Stand # 15075 at ECOC 2007 held September 17-19, 2007, at the Berlin Convention Center, Berlin, Germany.
