Netezza and MicroStrategy Offer Complete Foundation for Business Intelligence; Netezza Now Fully Certified and Supported on MicroStrategy 7i Platform

November 29, 2004

Netezza Corporation and MicroStrategy(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software, today announced the continued success of their technology alliance. MicroStrategy has strengthened its partnership with Netezza by fully certifying and supporting the Netezza Performance Server(R) (NPS(R)) system on the MicroStrategy 7i platform. Together, Netezza and MicroStrategy now offer joint customers such as Premier Inc. and Shoppers Drug Mart unlimited scalability and performance for reporting and analyzing enterprise-wide data.

“The NPS system provides a powerful engine for accelerating the performance of the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform,” said Jeffrey Bedell, CTO, MicroStrategy. “As a result, our mutual customers can more fully leverage the analytical breadth of our platform as the NPS system enables access and analysis of detailed data at speeds not historically achieved in relational OLAP environments.”

The alliance between the two companies meets a critical market demand for data-intensive organizations that realize the enterprise-wide implications and strategic necessity of Business Intelligence (BI). The NPS system’s power to analyze multi-terabytes of data 10 to 50 times faster than any other data warehouse maximizes MicroStrategy’s high-performance BI platform, thereby enabling rapid access to large volumes of strategic business information. The combination of the MicroStrategy and Netezza platforms reduces the complexities associated with developing and maintaining a data warehouse. Customers are able to deploy sophisticated BI applications faster while lowering total costs.

“The NPS system’s dramatic performance capabilities and lower total cost of ownership are highly complementary to the proven analytical capabilities of MicroStrategy’s Business Intelligence software,” said Jit Saxena, co-founder and CEO, Netezza Corp. “Because the NPS system is fully supported and certified on the MicroStrategy 7i platform, our customers can access deeper and richer levels of data to perform extremely complex analyses.”
