MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Matisse Networks, the leader in optical burst switching, today announced that Mr. Timon Sloane will lead a discussion on the trend toward packetization of optical networks at the Metro Ethernet Forum's Carrier Ethernet World Congress 2007 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva, Switzerland on September 28.

The presentation will review the services that are driving bandwidth demand, the network architecture that is emerging to address this demand and the implications for the underlying packet optical transport equipment.

"The rapid growth of IP/Ethernet traffic has the industry in search of a more efficient packet transport," said Timon Sloane, Matisse Networks' vice president of marketing. "While there is consensus that the transport network must be transformed, this presentation will address the controversy that remains over how best to solve this pressing problem."

The Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) is a global industry alliance comprising more than 120 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable operators, MSOs, and network equipment suppliers. The MEF develops technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services.
