TDK Semiconductor Unveils a New Member of Its Power Meter System-on-Chip Family
TDK Semiconductor Corp., a leader in the design and manufacture of mixed-signal semiconductors for world markets, today unveiled a new member of its power meter system-on-chip (SoC) product line. The new TDK 71M6511 integrates a 21-bit delta-sigma converter with three sensor channels, 32-bit compute engine, MCU, RTC, LCD driver, and precision voltage reference, and is ideal for tamper-resistant residential time-of-use (TOU) and pre-payment metering.
"The 71M6511 mirrors many architectural features of our highly successful 71M6513 metering IC announced earlier this year and is optimized to address dynamic market trends facing residential meter manufacturers today. Wide dynamic range, unprecedented programmability, performance and memory options support various classes of residential meter designs intended for domestic and export markets worldwide," according to Kourosh Boutorabi, product line manager for metering products.
Pricing for the new 71M6511 power meter IC starts at $2.60 in 10,000 unit quantities. The device can be produced in FLASH and ROM versions as well as 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent accuracy options and is now available for sampling in a 64-pin LQFP package.
