Global Communications Unveils Technology to Deliver 'Last Mile' Broadband Service 10-to-100 Times Faster Than DSL
Posted on: Tuesday, 25 September 2007, 09:00 CDT
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Communications Inc. today announced three patented technologies designed to cost effectively provide universal broadband access over existing wireline and wireless networks. These products are part of Global Communications' VUTP Platform architecture, a portfolio of broadband products that enable deployment of nation-scale, broadband service capable of supporting voice, video and data in any city or country worldwide.
"Although broadband usage appears to be increasing at a rapid pace, usage in rural or low socio-economic communities is significantly lower, which represents 70% of the world's population. This is due to the enormous expense of using traditional methods to replace or upgrade existing networks," said J. Johnson, chairman and founder, Global Communications. "VUTP architecture enables universal broadband access to any community or country worldwide and removes the barriers of cost."
The new architecture supports pure analog and pure digital environments equally and consists of the following three products:
-- VUTP (Video over Untwisted Pair) -- a pure analog solution delivering bi-directional triple play services over legacy phone lines (copper wire). This solution runs at speeds up to 100 times faster that DSL or ADSL. By combining these technical capabilities with the spectrum used for communications above DSL, Global Communications can deliver broadband services at speeds previously unavailable without expensive upgrades to the wireline network. -- VUTP Light -- an all-digital solution enabling wireless transmission of video, voice and data point-to-point or multi-point with 1Gbps bandwidth that can reach from 4-20 miles. This solution extends the reach of fiber optics in a WiFi-like environment without fiber optic glass or mobile towers. -- SECOS (Scalable Electronic Command Control Operating System) -- the only system worldwide that can scale to support 100 million electrical or communications devices in real time.
This architecture can be used to provide interactive 3D TV and up to 2000 channels of HDTV anywhere in terrestrial environments worldwide with or without a phone company or cable company. It also delivers triple play services without loss or degradation from 4-20 miles, and can scale to 100 million plus users simultaneously in any environment whether analog or digital anywhere in the world.
Global Communications demonstrated its VUTP Platform and products today at the IDG Network World DEMO 2007 trade show, an invitation-only conference that showcases emerging technology across a range of industries. As part of the presentation, Global Communications demonstrated how to deliver key services including their GlobalCast TV system that provides interactive 3D TV utilizing its VUTP platform.
