MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — As competition continues to intensify in the e-commerce marketplace, ShopNBC an upscale home shopping and Internet retailer owned by ValueVision Media , leverages video commerce (v-commerce) to increase sales and enhance the customer experience. ShopNBC.com sales continue to grow faster than the industry average, in part because of the use of over 4,000 unique web video content clips.

On Thursday, September 27, ShopNBC will debut its first of five webcasts exclusively on ShopNBC.TV. ShopNBC will feature a new webcast each day for the Must Watch event September 27- October 1. The Must Watch event showcases a variety of ShopNBC’s top watch brands at great values. The webcasts are 30-40 minute shows and provide customers with information about watches exclusively available on ShopNBC.com. The webcasts allow ShopNBC to reach a broader Internet audience of new customers while also retaining current TV customers by extending the TV programming to the web.

“Video increases conversion rates and engages our loyal customers,” said Geoff Smith, Vice President of ShopNBC.com. “With the launch of our exclusive webcasts on ShopNBC.TV we are now truly beginning to merge the lines between our traditional TV business and e-commerce.”

ShopNBC v-Commerce

In May 2007 ShopNBC launched new hi-resolution video players at ShopNBC.com and ShopNBC.TV. In just four months time interesting trends are showing signs of its early success.

   — Average viewing time for the enhanced live web video stream at ShopNBC.com is five times higher than its previous version. — Conversion for products is significantly higher when web video is a part of the customer experience. — Strong web video usage has been seen in the most important online product categories. — Top customers use web video more than anyone else.

“Our v-Commerce strategy has led our industry and forced our larger competitors to play catch up,” said Smith. “We will continue to test and develop new forms of web video and fully integrate our v-commerce content into our online customer experience.”

The ShopNBC.TV site represents state-of-the-art broadcasting of network television over the Internet, offering added convenience and flexibility to both television and online customers. ShopNBC.TV broadcasts the live TV signal via the web as well as offering the capability to watch previously aired shows from the past two weeks. ShopNBC.TV has also contributed to the increase in web sales, as it allows customers to time-shift their viewing habits based on their personal schedule.

ShopNBC is pleased with the Phase I execution of web video, and its potential for future growth. New features and functions are being built into the current web video platform to continue to enhance the customer experience, drive incremental sales, and maintain leadership in the area of v-commerce.
