What do online families really want for the holidays? According to Bonus.com (www.bonus.com), the ideal gift is a Multiplex entertainment center that wraps the best of social media and entertainment into a perfect bundle of family togetherness.
Bonus.com announced today the release of a two-viewer entertainment Multiplex designed to let users simultaneously watch, rate and communicate as they enjoy video trailers from family-friendly movies, DVDs, TV shows, games and their favorite bands.
"Entertainment should be a shared experience," said Satoshi Okano, Chief Operating Officer of Bonus.com. "A lot of sites feature videos that you can watch alone and may or may not be kid appropriate. We wanted to break the isolation and let kids, parents and friends watch together."
Communicating through their personal avatars (called Bonsters), a registered user can invite another member to the Bonus.com Multiplex and send safe messages to each other while viewing the action. They can also rate the videos, learn more "behind-the-scenes" information about the actors, products and storylines and purchase movie tickets and products via links to Fandango, Amazon and iTunes.
"Today's networked family is often online at the same time, but not necessarily with each other," said Okano. "Kids go to one site, their parents go to another. Our Multiplex offers a new way for a parent and child to come together and enjoy top-rated entertainment."
Featuring trailers from Animal Planet's Meerkat Manor and Bratz the Movie among many others, Bonus.com hopes to attract online families who appreciate quality entertainment and time together.
In addition to the Multiplex, Bonus.com features a dozen two-player games and comics designed for simultaneous play. An experienced company with deep roots in the gaming and kids market, Bonus.com's evolving strategy is to reach the digital family with first-rate content that can be enjoyed together. The site offers make-your-own comics, self-expressive avatars, a family fridge for messages, magnets and fun ways to say hello, cool two-player casual games, a massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) called Battlefield and a unique matchmaking system that allows kids and parents to play the same game, but from different geographical locations. Bonus.com's site can be found online at www.bonus.com and is available in English, Spanish and Hungarian.
