Fun Media Corporation (3-4-1 Mita, Minato-ku Tokyo, JAPAN) has announced that they have launched a new international community site called "Worldia" which includes a service for members to freely provide and receive online language lessons among them.
"Worldia" is a social networking service aimed for international users who are interested in other cultures and languages. Members can exchange information about life style, culture, and language and they can even talk directly using online communication features. Furthermore, members may registered as "Language Tutors" and provide free and fee-based online language lesson services to other members. Members who are looking for language tutors can choose from variety of languages and lesson contents with reasonable price.
The company has started to operate an alpha version of this site under the name of "WannaTalk" since March, 2007 and accumulated more than 8000 members from 170 countries and regions of the world. "WannaTalk" has been renewed with new features, such as a new top page design to put Google Map with various community activities and a new lesson system. The service name has also been changed to "Worldia."
Masaru Ohnuma, President of Fun Media says:
"Worldia is a unique SNS targeting world-wide audiences from the beginning. We already have members from all over the world and they are actively interacting among them in variety of themes such as popular world spots, life styles in other countries and learning languages. With the new language lesson system, we are connecting members who want to start lesson business and members who want to learn languages and both parties have significant merits."
Commemorating the start of the lesson service, the company is conducting special "Double Give-away Campaign." During the month of October, 200 free lesson users and 100 fee-based lesson users win $10 worth of gift certificates from amazon.com or amazon Japan.
