Dell Takes Advantage of Decreasing Component Costs to Pass Savings on to Business Customers

Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) has implemented price reductions on select enterprise servers, workstations, desktops and notebooks offered to its corporate and institutional customers in the United States. A key advantage of Dell's direct business model is its ability to quickly pass component cost reductions to customers.
Savings of as much as 22 percent are available on the Dell PowerEdge(TM) 4600 dual-processor server. With two 2.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 processors and four 73GB hard drives, prices now start at $4,194.
Dell Precision(TM) workstation pricing has been reduced by as much as $460 and Dell has lowered by $100 the prices of select OptiPlex(TM) desktop configurations. For mobile workers, Dell has lowered the price on several Latitude notebook configurations up to $220 and a memory upgrade to 512MB is now available for $109.
Entry-level flat panel monitors are at a new low price when purchased with a system. The 15-inch E153FP is now available for only $249 and the 17-inch E173FP is $299.

-- Latitude D600 featuring Intel Pentium M 755 processor (2.0GHz), 14.1-inch XGA display, 512MB DDR SDRAM, 40GB(b) HDD, CDROM optical drive, Dell Wireless 1350 miniPCI card Microsoft XP Pro operating system, and 3-year limited warranty(a) reduced $220 to $1,747.
