AT&T Private Intranet Protect to Provide Security Alerting, Notification and Analysis for Threats Within Private Networks
Posted on: Monday, 8 October 2007, 09:00 CDT
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced the availability of Private Intranet Protect, an alerting and notification tool designed to analyze traffic on the user's Virtual Private Network (VPN) and help detect intrusions, cyberattacks and other potentially threatening identified anomalies. Private Intranet Protect is the latest option available in the AT&T Internet Protect® service family.
Private Intranet Protect is available to AT&T Internet Protect customers who are also AT&T VPN customers and use managed VPN services. Private Intranet Protect does not require additional hardware or software to be installed on the user's premises. With the benefit of its ability to analyze complete private network traffic, Private Intranet Protect -- in combination with AT&T Internet Protect service -- offers an ensemble of monitoring and analysis of traffic both within the customer network and on AT&T's backbone.
"Private Intranet Protect has been developed by security experts within AT&T Labs to enable our customers to take a proactive approach to security analysis within and outside the private network," said Stan Quintana, executive director-AT&T Product Marketing Management. "The features and functionality of this managed security service provide customers with visibility into internal networks."
Private Intranet Protect is accessible through its own Web portal and uses Information from the customers network routers to help predict and profile identified malicious activity and nonconformance to customer network/security policies. Private Intranet Protect also provides network managers with prevention tips, detailed traffic analysis views and security information about the respective private network.
