Sunrise Telecom(R) Sets New Standard in Next-Generation Digital Video, High-Speed Data, and Voice Installation/Service Testing

Posted on: Wednesday, 10 October 2007, 09:00 CDT

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sunrise Telecom(R) Incorporated (Pink Sheets: SRTI), a leader in test and measurement solutions for today's telecom, wireless and cable networks, today introduced the CM2000(TM) cable modem network analyzer. The CM2000 extends Sunrise Telecom's leadership position in handheld test sets designed to speed deployment of next-generation networks (NGN).

Created specifically to meet the increased challenges faced by cable operators delivering advanced services over DOCSIS(R) 2.0 networks, the CM2000 combines customizable verification and troubleshooting capabilities with pre-defined automated test suites and the industry's first full VGA color touch screen. These unique features enable operators to speed installations and reduce repair time, while significantly increasing quality of service (QoS). In addition, the Windows CE(R) operating system offers a compelling platform because of its user familiarity, Internet Explorer(R) browser, and flexibility for future expansion.

"The CM2000 sets a new standard for testing high-speed data, VoIP telephone, and digital and analog video services. Its powerful test suites and easy-to-use interface make it an essential verification and troubleshooting tool," said Rob Ennis, Sunrise Telecom's Vice President of Product Marketing, Broadband Products Group. "For the first time, cable TV technicians can rely on a single test set to validate a network's capacity to deliver next-generation services."

The CM2000 simplifies VoIP testing, permitting technicians to test both the upstream and downstream for MOS, latency, R-factor, jitter and lost packets, without any special provisioning. Also, this new unit enables field personnel to test HSD deployments in excess of 30 Mb/s and verify the QoS on VoIP service flows while ensuring operational margins and identifying impairments before they affect service.
