LiveDeal, Inc. (OTCBB:LVDL), the nation's first combined local online classifieds and Yellow Pages marketplace (www.livedeal.com), announced today it is enhancing its online marketplace with new online video capabilities.
Local merchants and consumers advertising on LiveDeal will have the option to create and upload free, user-generated video to promote their business and their listings and provide a more satisfying buying experience. A business can upload a video of the business at a premium yellow pages store level or for their products and classifieds listings. For instance, a realtor could provide video tours of their available properties, a local restaurant or hair salon and spa could provide a video tour of its facilities, a dog breeder could introduce families to the personalities of his pets or a retailer could provide a fashion show of a new clothing line. The video uploading process is self-serve using the features available on the website, and the uploaded videos will be reviewed and approved by LiveDeal prior to being visible on the website.
"We are laser-focused on making LiveDeal's marketplace the most rewarding online classifieds and yellow pages experience on the market," said Rajesh Navar, founder, president and chief architect of LiveDeal, Inc. "We are thrilled to be adding video capabilities because it will empower our advertisers with more effective tools to showcase their products and services and build stronger relationship with potential customers."
A recent study from the Online Publisher's Association (OPA) found that online videos are become increasing popular with online viewers and that video content will be a significant source of information on the Internet (Source: Online Publisher's Association Frames of Reference study; June 2007). Similarly, The Exabyte Era, a white paper issued by Cisco, shows that in North America, online video transmission has increased to 18% of all Internet traffic in 2007, up from 7% in 2005.
"It is clear that online video is the wave of the future and will have a very significant and lasting impact on how individuals and companies transact on the Internet," said Dan Coury, CEO and vice chairman of LiveDeal, Inc. "We are committed to keeping our local businesses and consumer users on the forefront of Internet trends and giving them cutting-edge tools to interact and transact with one another quickly and effectively."
