Juniper Networks, a company engaged in high-performance networking, has announced that Kyoto University has mitigated its risk of exposure to known and not-yet discovered security threats with the deployment of the Juniper Networks Intrusion Detection and Prevention solution.

This deployment has helped Kyoto University cost-effectively accommodate its growing volume of network traffic without sacrificing security or performance. Juniper’s Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) solution helps more than 20,000 researchers, students and faculty to leverage the university’s high-performance network to safely and efficiently conduct daily activities.

Masanori Osuga, vice president of Juniper Networks at Japan, said: “The network is critical to the daily activities of today’s research and educational institutions. As centers of learning, universities increasingly depend on a secure communications infrastructure to enable broad collaboration. Students and faculty alike continue to demand fast, reliable and secure access to applications and services running on a single network for a wide range of learning and administrative tasks. Juniper’s high-performance network infrastructure, including our IDP platforms, provides comprehensive protection without compromising performance while controlling overall IT costs.”
