VirtualLogix(TM) Marketing Manager Didier Irlande to Present, ''Virtualization for New ATCA-Based Network Equipment'' at AdvancedTCA Summit
Posted on: Tuesday, 16 October 2007, 09:00 CDT
VirtualLogix, Inc.:
WHAT: Didier Irlande, marketing manager for VirtualLogix, Inc., the global leader in Real-Time Virtualization(TM), will present at the AdvancedTCA Summit in Santa Clara on Wednesday, October 17th. Mr. Irlande's presentation, "Virtualization For New ATCA-Based Network Equipment" will explore how real-time virtualization can help network equipment providers better integrate Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) and quickly consolidate platforms for converged networks.
Additionally, VirtualLogix will demonstrate its VLX for Network Infrastructure (VLX-NI) at booth number 407.
VirtualLogix(TM) VLX for Network Infrastructure enables customers to easily migrate to multi-core processors by allowing existing software (operating systems and applications) to run unmodified on the Intel(R) Core(TM) Microarchitecture, without disrupting their behavior.
The combination of VirtualLogix VLX software with Intel Virtualization Technology hardware addresses the networking infrastructure market by providing support for high throughput and time-critical applications. The advanced features, flexibility and performance of VLX for Network Infrastructure, Intel Edition allow developers to solve problems, which are difficult to address with other solutions today.
WHEN: Tuesday, October 16th - Thursday, October 18th
Mr. Irlande's Presentation: "Virtualization for New ATCA-Based Network Equipment" Session 105 Wednesday, October 17th 3:45 p.m. PT
WHERE: AdvancedTCA Summit Santa Clara Convention Center Santa Clara, CA
VirtualLogix Booth # 407
WHY: More and more network equipment providers are developing new products based on standards enabling cost reduction and higher reliability. ATCA is fundamental for helping organizations meet these standards. However, new ATCA boards equipped with multi-core processors set additional challenges to embedded system designers. For example, most embedded and real-time software (operating systems and applications) are not ready for Symmetric Multi-Processing (SMP) hardware. However, multi- core architectures offer a unique opportunity to enable substantial hardware consolidation.
With recent technological advances in virtualization, the effort to migrate to platforms integrating multi-core processors can be minimized. Unlike traditional virtualization solutions, which are not suited for time-critical embedded applications, real-time virtualization allows multiple operating systems and their native device drivers to run on shared hardware, while maintaining the real-time performance and high I/O throughput that are traditionally required in network elements. In addition, the possibility to run open operating systems, such as Linux concurrently with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) allows developers of network equipment to easily add new functionality while preserving software investments.
Attendees will learn how with ATCA bringing the standard framework for advanced network elements and real-time virtualization helping the transition to multi-core architectures, network equipment providers can better address the effort to rapidly consolidate platforms for converged networks.
Mr. Irlande will be available during the conference for press interviews. To schedule a briefing or a teleconference before or after the event, please contact virtuallogix@schwartz-pr.com.
