Frost & Sullivan and Tekelec to Present on Network Evolution: Migration Strategies for Success
Posted on: Wednesday, 17 October 2007, 12:00 CDT
Frost & Sullivan and Tekelec are collaborating on an upcoming briefing Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. EDT. The complimentary session will feature key technical challenges that operators will face in transitioning to the next-generation network (NGN) and the impacts caused by evolving mobile and wireline networks.
The discussion will highlight some key operator migration issues, including:
Implementing a session initiation protocol (SIP) signaling and session control framework in the NGN.
Incrementally deploying an IMS architecture.
Bridging the gap between today's and future Internet protocol subsystem (IMS) networks.
Ensuring that SIP complexities are properly addressed.
Carriers can use the strategies discussed in the session to smoothly migrate to the NGN. The briefing will benefit fixed, mobile and cable operators by supplying information they can use to evolve their networks to support SIP, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and multimedia services within today's and tomorrow's network operating environment.
"The move to IMS will be gradual, and, in order for it to be successful, service providers need to understand how network evolution will impact their business and signaling network," says Frost & Sullivan's Principal Analyst for Emerging Telecoms, Ronald Gruia. "More importantly, they will need to know how to create an effective transitional strategy. Tekelec supports a multi-pronged strategy for helping operators migrate to the NGN at their own pace, starting from the control layer, which leverages the company's signaling expertise."
