IBM Information on Demand Conference -- Northeast Utilities (NU), New England's largest utility system, has chosen an integrated records management solution from IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Lighthouse Computer Services, Inc., to meet its growing number of records management, e-mail archiving and compliance requirements.
The integrated records management system will help NU respond to litigation and e-discovery regulatory compliance requirements by better managing, securing, storing and archiving email messages and electronic records.
"Northeast Utilities looks to continue the momentum moving forward as our new Records Information Management Program evolves into a strong and successful program. The synergies built with our IBM Business Partner Lighthouse Computer Services, and our technically talented in-house team, have enabled us to successfully install and configure IBM's RM software tools. We are laying down a strong foundation to accomplish our strategic enterprise goals," said Greg Yatrousis, Northeast Utilities' IT Product Manager.
The newly implemented records management system is expected to decrease NU's operating costs by reducing the time and effort necessary to retrieve information. The system also will support NU's records and information management policies by identifying the type and format of corporate records, monitoring compliance with business and legal retention requirements for records, identifying the custodians of record classes, and implementing established security requirements and user access in accordance with legal and business requirements.
The IBM software enabling NU to use information as a strategic asset includes: IBM DB2 Content Manager, IBM DB2 Records Manager, IBM DB2 Document Manager, IBM WebSphere Information Integration, IBM CommonStore, IBM DB2 Content Manager Records Enabler, IBM Content Manager On Demand.
