Corvil Delivers Major Breakthrough in Low Latency Networking

Corvil Inc, a leading provider of next generation network and application performance management solutions, today launched CorvilNet 4.0. The new platform is a milestone for any organization looking to maximize application performance through the control of network latency and loss. Built around advanced microsecond traffic measurement and real-time QoS-aware algorithms, CorvilNet 4.0 sets a new standard for network performance monitoring and intelligent bandwidth provisioning analysis.

Enterprises are increasingly embracing a new generation of rapid-response networked applications, including electronic trading, grid computing, virtualization and Web 2.0 services. These applications, together with the demand for instant access to data, mean that high-speed networks that deliver low levels of latency and loss have become even more critical in ensuring optimum business performance.

CorvilNet 4.0 has been specifically designed to provide microsecond visibility and analysis of network performance in relation to these new networked applications. Based on that analysis, network managers are then provided with intelligent recommendations and simple policies for the provisioning of bandwidth and QoS to achieve the required performance.

“In order for businesses to be more competitive, the applications that they rely upon have undergone a generation change — the problem is that their network management techniques have not,” said Donal Byrne, CEO of Corvil. “The rules of network performance delivery have changed because for many organizations, latency now equals lost productivity and lost revenue. Events that impact performance of these new business applications happen in millisecond timeframes and if businesses can’t see them in that level of detail, they can’t control their performance.”

Unlike conventional network performance technologies, CorvilNet applies advanced algorithms to combat the highly complex problem of controlling network microbursts. Acting as both a telescope and microscope, CorvilNet combines sub-microsecond visibility with advanced analytics to provide users with concise recommendations for provisioning the network for controlled performance.

CorvilNet 4.0 monitors per-packet network performance against user specified quality targets for delay and loss to provide early indication of network performance degradation. Operating at the network layer enables CorvilNet to then provide detailed bandwidth and quality of service provisioning recommendations, which the user can apply directly to achieve desired network performance.

“CorvilNet 4.0 is the industry’s most advanced network and application performance management system,” said Donal Byrne, CEO of Corvil. “Our customers using it have much better visibility of the application needs from their network and it has given them the confidence to roll out new generation applications for their business.”

CorvilNet 4.0 is generally available from November 30th on three different appliance platforms.

C100 — Low-end (single processor) platform supporting 1 x 1 Gigabit Ethernet port

C1000 — Mid-range (quad processor) platform supporting 4 x 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports

C10000 — High-end (dual quad processor) platform support 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet Ports or 8 x 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports
