New Sales and Distribution Agreement Establishes Exabyte as a Preferred Provider of Tape Backup Products for Apple Xserve and Other Apple Computing Systems

Exabyte Corporation (OTCBB: EXBT), a leading innovator in tape backup, restore and archival systems, announced today that it has signed a new global sales and distribution agreement with Apple Computer that expands the availability of Exabyte tape backup storage across Apple's global sales and channel network. Through this agreement, Apple's international sales and distribution network will market Exabyte's products worldwide as the recommended brand of tape storage solutions for Apple customers, particularly its popular Xserve platform.

"Exabyte has a long-standing commitment to serving the data-intensive storage needs of Apple users by offering powerful, plug-and-play tape storage solutions that feature FireWire and Fibre Channel connectivity," said Tom Ward, president and CEO of Exabyte. "That commitment has been the driving force behind our ongoing collaboration with Apple and the Xserve community to design storage products with the specifications and software compatibility that meet their needs and deliver the outstanding quality that the market has come to expect from Apple and Exabyte."

Exabyte's tape storage solutions for Apple users include cost-effective standalone tape drives featuring FireWire -- an ideal fit for professionals who use their Mac desktop or laptop for data-intensive applications, such as image and video processing -- as well as tape libraries with native Fibre Channel connectivity -- a powerful solution for corporate Apple environments, particularly those looking for a tape storage solution to complement the Apple Xserve.

"We have enjoyed a long and productive relationship with Apple Computer. This global sales and distribution agreement with Apple is a natural next step and further validates Exabyte's commitment to the Apple market," added Ward. "This agreement not only affirms that Exabyte tape storage products are the first choice for Apple users, but it also broadens the availability of Exabyte products throughout Apple's global network. This is particularly exciting because of its international reach in emerging markets in India and Asia where the Apple community is growing rapidly."

Exabyte offers a full suite of tape storage products for Apple users, including its award-winning VXA Packet drives and autoloaders and its world-renowned LTO(TM) (Ultrium(TM)) automation products built with ExaBotics(TM).
