ATC Offers Live Marshal 1.0.1, a Network Forensics Tool – Allows You to Perform Live Investigations Remotely
ITHACA, N.Y., Sept. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — ATC-NY has just released Live Marshal 1.0.1, a live network forensics acquisition and analysis tool that now runs on Windows in addition to Linux. Live Marshal enables a forensic investigator to perform a live investigation of Windows targets over a network, using tools of his choice, without requiring any preinstalled software agents or hardware dongles.
Live Marshal(TM) is a software tool to aid first responders in rapid forensic examinations. Live Marshal enables a responder to rapidly acquire data from one or more systems over an enterprise network. Live Marshal is user-configurable, enabling responders to incorporate their own, trusted command-line tools. It runs from a laptop or other computer running a Windows or Linux operating system.
Live Marshal follows forensic best practices and maintains a detailed log file of all activities it performs, including all communications with the target device. It produces easily readable reports by copying the acquired results to a text file for a rapid analysis.
Live Marshal is available to U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. law enforcement personnel only. If you qualify, visit the Live Marshal website for your free copy: http://www.livemarshal.com
Live Marshal is part of ATC’s series of forensics products including P2P Marshal and Mac Marshal that are currently being used by local, state, federal and international law enforcement to investigate cyber crimes. Without automated tools, a forensic investigator’s job to find evidence of illegal file sharing and distribution is manually intensive and time-consuming. These forensic tools greatly help investigators reduce the time required for the analysis process. These tools are also useful to private corporations for compliance checking. For example, a company that prohibits peer-to-peer software on its corporate systems could use P2P Marshal to confirm such compliance.
