The Canadian Press Broadcasts Live TIFF Red Carpet Star Events With Dejero
Bono, Edge, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Madonna Events Streamed To Major
Media Outlets
WATERLOO, ON, Sept. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ – Dejero, creator of the
award-winning 4G/3G/WiFi wireless live television transmission
solution: Dejero LIVE+, announced today that The Canadian Press used
Dejero LIVE+ to stream a number of red carpet events at the Toronto
International Film Festival (TIFF) to major media outlets. TIFF is an
international leader in film culture that draws worldwide attention and
celebrities.
Gregory Bonnell, Acting Director of Online News for The Canadian Press
explains, “The Canadian Press (CP) used the Dejero LIVE+ for three red
carpets during the Toronto International Film Festival, streaming live
to several major media client websites from outside Roy Thomson Hall.
Since no hardline or dedicated WiFi connection was available, CP relied
on Dejero’s ability to use multiple bonded cellular signals to provide
a live feed. We entered this experiment with the full knowledge that
cellphone use by thousands of rabid film fans at the same galas could
sink our transmission. To our delight the signal held, with very little
breakup or pixellation. This allowed us to live stream Bono and the
Edge of U2 on September 8th, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie the next
evening, and Madonna on the 12th. The technology marks a first for The
Canadian Press as the national news agency moves further into providing
web clients with the latest in video technologies. Traditional delivery
of live news events via satellite trucks is far too costly for
non-broadcasters. Technology like Dejero LIVE+ allows non-broadcasters
to enter a new game, live video streaming – a game that promises to
reshape how people consume news online.”
“The Toronto International Film Festival creates excitement around the
world in the movie industry,” said Dan Mance, CEO. “Dejero was thrilled
to be chosen by The Canadian Press to assist them in their drive to
lead in live video streaming of important news events.”
Dejero LIVE+ comprises four components: the Dejero LIVE+ Transmitter is
a portable hand held HD/SD transmitter that connects to a camera and
goes live with the push of a button; the Dejero LIVE+ Cloud Manager,
the online manager that connects transmitters to video receiving
servers for studio repurposing or web streaming; and either the Dejero
LIVE+ Broadcast Server, the receiving unit that typically resides in a
studio rack to decode the live video transmission for ingest or the
Dejero LIVE+ Streaming Server that is a cloud-enabled server that
receives live transmission for instant web or mobile device streaming..
