September 19, 2011

Baton Rouge School of Court Reporting hosted graduation ceremonies on September 12, 2011, for students graduating in Court Reporting, CART/Captioning, and Scoping.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (PRWEB) September 19, 2011

Baton Rouge School of Court Reporting (BRSCR), a court reporter training school located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, celebrated its graduation ceremonies on Monday, September 12, 2011, at Drusilla Seafood Catering.

The graduating class consisted of 30 students recognized for their achievements. Seventeen attended the gala graduation ceremony, consisting of a formal catered dinner, followed by special recognitions and the awarding of certificates in three programs: Court Reporting, CART/Captioning, and Scoping. Both online and onsite graduates participated, with some students traveling from out of state to attend. Graduates not able to be present received their certificates at other times.

More than 120 persons were present for the emotion-filled evening, including family and friends of the graduates, and the BRSCR faculty and staff. Graduates received their certificates from school director Mrs. Pamela Giardina, then had an opportunity to thank those present for their support during the challenging journey to graduation.

“It’s my favorite night of the school year, but always a little bittersweet,” says Director Giardina about the graduation and departure of students who have spent many months or years in the various programs. “We are just so happy to see them celebrate their success with those who love them most.”

Court Reporting graduates in either machine (steno) writing or in voicewriting will continue to practice on through certification testing to achieve Certified Court Reporter status. Graduates in CART/Captioning are eligible to work in college classroom settings providing realtime captioning for the hearing impaired or as television broadcast captioners. Scopists work behind the scenes for court reporters, assisting in transcript editing and preparation, a work-at-home job that many find appealing.

Special recognition honors went to Mrs. Nina Hall of Shorter, Alabama, recipient of the Guardian Spirit Award, as the student who best embodies the ideals of a successful student; and to assistant director Mrs. Lori Beckman, winner of the Staff Recognition Award for her enhanced duties and extra effort in mentoring students. Mrs. Dana Bannerman, Director of Education, received special thanks for coordinating the banquet and ceremony.
