RIM’s PlayBook Being Sold For $200 Off At Some Locations
Three large retailers have slashed the price of Research In Motion’s BlackBerry PlayBook computer tablet.
BGR reported that retail partners at Best Buy, Staples and Office Depot have dropped the price of the devices by as much as $200.
The report said Staples is offering $200 off the price of each device while Best Buy is offering the PlayBook for $100 off the price.
A RIM spokesperson contacted BGR and said the slash in retail prices is part of promotional plans for the fall with certain retailers.
“We are already starting to see some of these promotions being implemented in the form of instant rebates and gift cards within the consumer channel, and expect these promotions to continue into the holiday season,” the spokesperson told BGR.
Since the report first came out on Tuesday, Best Buy’s website shows the availability of the 16 gigabyte version of the tablet as backordered and the prices are now shown as normal retail prices.
