R-Squared Hires Dr. John O’Connell as New Chief Architect

R-Squared Services & Solutions, Inc. (R-Squared) is pleased to announce the appointment of John F. O’Connell, Ph.D., as its new Chief Architect. The hire concludes a nation-wide search for a proven thought leader in high performance computing environments.

In his role of Chief Architect, Dr. O’Connell will focus his efforts on continued development and improvement of R-Squared’s RADS(r) Compliance Platform, including most immediately, the enhancement or R-Squared’s existing Customer Master/Master Data Management Functionality and related matching algorithms through the development of parallel and synchronized backend systems.

Dr. O’Connell joins R-Squared after a decade of service at Bloomberg L.P., where he architected the backend processing solutions for Bloomberg’s compliance system as well as its mortgage system, which involved the design of large-scale server architecture and real-time, mission-critical applications with numerous trading system functionalities.

Dr. O’Connell earned a B.S. in chemistry, mathematics and computer science from Central Michigan University in 1983, a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, a post-doctoral fellowship at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Zurich, Switzerland, and a Glaxo post-doctoral fellowship with Professor Kurt Wüthrich (Nobel Prize Chemistry 2002).
