FlightStats announces on-time performance ratings for peak holiday travel

Portland, OR (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

FlightStats, the undisputed leader in flight information services, has released analysis of on-time performance during the peak holiday travel period covering the past five years. “Holiday travel is hectic, stressful, and flights are often canceled or delayed due to winter weather, mechanical issues, and excessive carry-on baggage. The rush of passengers puts extra strain on airline and airport operations” says Jeff Kennedy, the company’s CEO. While the top North American airlines and airports do a great job of getting holiday travelers to their destinations safely, delays are very common. Not all airlines and airports perform equally well. You should set your expectations accordingly.

To help, we compiled historical on-time performance data for the past five years of peak holiday travel to paint a picture of the highs and lows. While history may not be a reliable predictor of the future, it can certainly highlight how well or poorly certain airports and airlines are likely to perform under the stress this year. Hereâs a summary of the best and worst performance by North American airlines and airports during the holiday travel season (December 18th thru January 2nd).
