Lately Lily Collection Launches for the Adventure-Minded Little Girl
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Dec. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Lately Lily, an insightful new t-shirt brand for thoughtful little girls ages 2-6, has officially launched with a Spring 2012 collection and Web site that celebrates the spirit of youth, adventure and imagination. Created by author and illustrator, Micah Player, and apparel designer, Erin Nichols, Lately Lily follows the character of Lily as she travels the world with her parents, a photographer and writer for the World’s Greatest Magazine. In the company of her best friend, Zeborah (a stuffed zebra from the London Zoo), Lily records her latest observations and thoughts in a notebook so friends can follow her experiences. Each Lately Lily shirt has a unique hangtag pulled from Lily’s notebook, providing context for each design and simple facts about the places she visits.
The Lately Lily debut collection highlights Lily’s time spent in Peru, with distinctive hand-drawn graphics featuring the Andes Mountains, Spanish phrases and Peruvian maps within the designs. Bold, colorful character tees include the face of a smiling, curious Lily, fearless and impulsive Zeborah and this season’s new friend, Lupe, a beautiful Suri Alpaca.
To further illustrate Lily’s experiences, www.latelylily.com includes several interactive sections where visitors can get a close-up look at what Lily has been up to Lately. After meeting Lily, visitors can read her notebook, explore Peru and examine the contents of her Sunny Yellow Suitcase, full of keepsakes from her travels.
“As parents and designers, we’re struck by the thoughtful observations and deep curiosity of our children daily,” said Player. “Lately Lily is a chance to daydream about far-off places through the eyes of an adventurous child.”
“I’ve always loved fashion and travel, and really wanted to create a brand that captured the fun of traveling the world,” added Nichols. “Our initial collection, inspired by Lily’s trip to Peru, includes bright colors and soft, fashionable fabrics. We’ve taken inspiration from Peru’s folk art, with its incredible color and patterns, to make tees for the smart, thoughtful girls of today who like to express their personal style.”
Each collection will reflect a new travel destination, and highlight its people, sights and cultures from Lily’s perspective.
