Parents Post Disturbing Photos Of Children On Facebook

Authorities said on Thursday that two Arizona parents were arrested by sheriff's deputies after posting pictures on Facebook of their children bound with duct tape.

Coconino County deputies arrested 20-year-old Frankie Alhuina and 19-year-old Kayla Almuina on suspicion of two counts of child abuse on Wednesday.

Their children included a 2-year-old toddler and a 10-month-old infant.  Reuters reported that they were seen online bound with duct tape on their wrists and ankles with their mouths taped shut.

The parents told police that the photos were a joke and that the children were not harmed.

"It's clear in our minds that these children were placed in a very extreme situation," Commander Rex Gilliland told Reuters. "By the look on their faces, they were in sheer terror. I don't know how this could have been a joke."

The police were called to the scene after a person who knew the couple saw the posting on Facebook.

Gilliland said investigators seized about a dozen similar photos, some that were not posted online, from the home located about 175 miles north of Phoenix.

He said the couple was being held in county jail as of late thursday and that the children have been turned over to another family member.
