Epson WorkForce DS-30 Portable Color Document Scanner Delivers One-Touch Scan-to-Cloud for Business Professionals

January 10, 2012

LONG BEACH, Calif., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Epson America, Inc., a leading provider of exceptional performing business solutions, today announced the Epson WorkForce(®) DS-30 portable color document scanner designed for business. Weighing less than 12 ounces, the WorkForce DS-30 is the only business document scanner with both one-touch scan-to-cloud capabilities(1) and built-in TWAIN interface, which allows for wide-range software compatibility. With its robust feature set, including brand new Document Capture Pro software, the scanner provides full-function flexibility for business professionals either in the office or on the road.

More businesses are providing remote access to network files and are adopting automated workflow and records management services to increase productivity. As such, simplex portable scanners have become the fastest growing category in the document scanner market(2) because they offer scanning flexibility without compromising functionality or security. The WorkForce DS-30 enables business professionals to scan, save and send important documents from virtually anywhere, making them more efficient and productive.

Full-function Flexibility

The WorkForce DS-30 includes a robust feature set including Epson’s new Document Capture Pro software and a customizable one-touch button allowing users to scan directly to email, FTP, or a specific directory folder, as well as directly to popular cloud services such as SharePoint, Google Docs and Evernote. Users can also scan a variety of originals – from documents up to 8.5 inches by 14 inches to business cards and rigid ID cards – and take advantage of advanced correction tools, such as removing punch holes, auto-sizing and enhancing text quality or correcting image skew. “Epson is dedicated to increasing productivity and efficiency with its business products, and the WorkForce DS-30 provides on-the-go professionals with a scanning solution that is flexible and robust,” said Mark Pickard, product manager, Document Scanners, Epson. “Expanding Epson’s already successful line-up of business document scanners, the WorkForce DS-30 delivers full functionality and top-tier image quality in an easy-to-use portable package for a wide range of business applications.”

Easy-to-Integrate

One of the most notable features on the WorkForce DS-30 is the inclusion of the TWAIN driver, the industry standard for scanning software, which allows customizable software for integration into third-party Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software in virtually any vertical market, such as real estate, healthcare and logistics. Often included only with high-end scanners, the TWAIN interface is standard on Epson’s entire line of document scanners, and the WorkForce DS-30 is the only portable business document scanner on the market to include both TWAIN and one-touch scan-to-cloud capabilities.

Other advanced features of the WorkForce DS-30:

  • Extremely portable: Weighs 11.5 ounces and is small enough to slip into a computer bag
  • USB powered: Simply plug the WorkForce DS-30 into a laptop – no external power supply is required
  • High-quality scanning features: Simplex scanning creates editable text and searchable PDFs; great image quality at up to 600 dpi
  • Robust software package: In addition to Document Capture Pro, the WorkForce DS-30 also includes ABBYY FineReader(®, )NewSoft BizCard(® )and NewSoft PageManager(®) for Mac
