San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 21, 2012

The Center of Artificial Imagination announced today that version 2.4 of the Kindle eBook “Inside the Giant Machine: Confessions of a Former Amazon.com Technologist” (German edition: “Im Inneren der Gigantischen Maschine: Eine Amazon.com Story”) has risen to the top of its category at the Kindle Stores in Amazon´s websites in the United States and the United Kingdom, the Kindle-Shop at Amazon Germany and Boutique Kindle at Amazon.fr.

At the time of this writing, the book´s version 2.4 was at #1 spot in the “Hot New Releases” list for both the Photo Essays and the eCommerce categories at Amazon.com, and #1 in the Photo Journalism category at Amazon France and Amazon UK (In UK, a slightly modified version of the eBook is distributed as “Inside the Giant Machine: An Amazon.com Story” ). The German translation of the eBook, “Im Inneren der Gigantischen Maschine: Eine Amazon.com Story,” which is still in beta, was at #1 in the Westküste mit Kalifornien, Nordamerika category.

“I am very pleased to see my eBook become a global hit on Amazon Kindle,” said Kalpanik S. “The success of this can be primarily attributed to the use of the Lean Publishing principles, where I combined ideas from lean manufacturing and agile methodologies to adapt the eBook to the market requirements and incorporate user feedback.”

The digital publisher, the Center of Artificial Imagination, did not reveal sales figures but did let out that several thousand copies of the eBook were downloaded by Kindle owners and Kindle App users over the past four weeks in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

“The book is fast-paced and easy to read, the author a likable guy,” says a review at Amazon.com by Linda Linguvic, a Hall of Fame reviewer. “Especially interesting to me was the Amazon.com working culture, which was indeed hard on the employees as Amazon created the mammoth business that it is today.”

Another reader, George A. Butler, from Redwood City, describes how “each of the hundreds of times” he purchased something at Amazon.com, he wondered at how smart the people who got it working must have been. He says the author´s depiction of the company invoked the same feelings as towards a chess-playing software that can win against human players: “You acknowledge its superiority but don’t admire it.”

The Kindle edition of the book can be downloaded at the following links, mentioned against the name of the Amazon regional website:

The printed edition of the book, “Inside the Giant Machine: An Amazon.com Story,” can be purchased online at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and other online and brick-and-mortar book retailers.
