Rockstart Accelerator Announces New Visiting Advisors and Mentors

Rockstart taps the “Who´s Who” of tech to become visiting advisors and mentors to Europe´s next wave of leading new startups.

Rockstart Accelerator, a new startup incubator program that helps Europe´s most promising startups launch their companies and break through on a global scale, announced today that some of the most notable names in tech have joined as visiting advisors and mentors to the Rockstart Accelerator program. The Rockstart Accelerator startup hub is based in Amsterdam, and accelerates 10 teams of founders with 99 mentors for 100 days, and an additional three-month summer program that culminates with a 25-day Silicon Valley road trip.

“The quality of an accelerator program is largely defined by the number of smart people that startups engage with on a daily basis,” said Oscar Kneppers, founder of Rockstart. “We are delighted that so many of the brightest minds in tech have come on board to coach the Rockstart class of 2012.”

The new lineup of visiting advisors and mentors features some of the most illustrious and respected people in technology today including:

  •     John Mullins — Author of the best-seller, “Getting to Plan B” (Visiting Advisor)
  •     Elias Bizannes — Director of Charles River Ventures; Founder of Startupbus and Partner at StartupHouse (Mentor)
  •     Raj Singh — Entrepreneur-in-Residence at SRI International (Mentor)
  •     Bedy Vang — Principal and mentor at 500 Startups (Mentor)
  •     Ciara Byrne — European Contributor, VentureBeat (Mentor)
  •     Oren Michels — CEO and founder of Mashery (Mentor)
  •     Dave Kochbeck — Former CTO of Friendster; CTO and founder of AtomicPass (Mentor)
  •     Dees Chinniah — Firestarter at Mozilla, the makers of Firefox (Mentor)
  •     Danielle Morrill — Director of Marketing at Twilio (Mentor)
  •     Ash Maurya — Founder of Spark59 and author of “Running Lean” (Mentor)
  •     Humphrey Polanen — Managing Director of Sand Hill Management Partners, a private equity company in Silicon Valley
  •     Alex Barrera — CEO and founder of Press 42 (Mentor)
  •     Dawson King — Serial entrepreneur who has sold five venture-backed companies (Mentor)
  •     Lisa Gansky — Co-founder of Ofoto and author of “The Mesh” and “Angel” (Mentor)
  •     Patrick Vlaskovits — Entrepreneur and author of “The Entrepreneur´s Guide to Customer Development: A Cheat Sheet to the Four Steps to the Epiphany” (Mentor)
  •     Salim Virani — Entrepreneur and co-founder Leancamp
  •     Peter Tatischev — Serial entrepreneur and founder of the GreenfieldProject, a social enterprise aimed at creating a globally connected entrepreneurial ecosystem in Russia

Rockstart Accelerator has also added two executive-level entrepreneurs who have agreed to coach the startups within office hours. Startups can come in, ask questions and benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the following entrepreneurs-in-residence:

  •     Joris van Heukelom — Partner in MakerStreet; with over a decade of digital experience as director at Sanoma Digital amongst others
  •     Sebastiaan Hooft – Co-founder of one of the largest online retail sites for hardware and a pioneer in internet retailing since 2003

The Rockstart Accelerator Program 2012 is for startups from the whole of Europe. Teams from Tallinn to Paris and Madrid, from Hamburg to Beograd and Istanbul are welcome to apply. The program aims to prepare startups for international expansion and growth funding of between 100K and 1M euros, and starts on March 22, 2012.
