Westlake Village, CA (PRWEB) March 02, 2012

Oaks Christian Online School(OCO) college counselor, Cyndy Locke, will be speaking at the Western Association for College Admission Counseling´s (WACAC) Share, Learn and Connect event on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the University of Southern California campus. The one day conference is designed for high school counselors, community college transfer specialists and independent consultants who work with students who are transferring to four year colleges. Cyndy will present Classroom Disrupted; a look at how the trend for online learning is impacting traditional college acceptance. Cyndy´s goal is to inform college admission officers about current trends including students who blend traditional and online learning on their transcripts as well as those students who are in full-time, college preparatory online programs. She will also be helping high schools prepare to meet requirements that colleges will be looking for in online students.

Cyndy is currently a full-time, online counselor for Oaks Christian Online School and teaches a four year college counseling online course to 9-12th grade students. As the curriculum developer for the course, Cyndy covers Pre-ACT, PSAT, ACT and SAT testing; learning styles and online success strategies; college selection and admission processes; and virtual as well as face to face college visits. Cyndy was a counselor for the Oaks Christian School main campus in Westlake Village, CA, for more than eight years and was part of a team of counselors that has led the school to a 99% college acceptance (90% four year college attendance) statistic. Her experience with the college preparation process will be beneficial to both high schools sending students to college as well as to the colleges who are accepting them.

The main campus of Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, CA opened in the fall of 2000 and Oaks Christian Online School (OCO) opened for full-time, online students in the fall of 2011. The online school provides a rigorous and challenging college preparatory education for high school students all across the country in a Christian environment.
