Aaxeon Release 10/100TX to 100FX Fiber Media Converters

Aaxeon Technologies is proud to introduce their FCU-1802 Series of 10/100BaseTX to 100BaseFX fiber media converters.

The new media converters are Fast Ethernet Bridge 100BaseFX fiber to 10/100BaseTX shielded twisted pair (STP) converters that feature a DIP Switch allowing the selection between half-duplex and full-duplex operations. The units also auto-adapt to the highest level of performance supported by the device connected to the STP port.

When the device is a switch or workstation that supports full duplex, the fiber media converters adapt to the full-duplex mode and provide an effective 200Mbps bandwidth. When the devices are connected as a hub or a workstation that supports only half-duplex, the fiber media converters then adapt to the half-duplex mode, and provide the nominal 100Mbps bandwidth.

The FCU-1802 series includes a LFP (Link Fault Pass Through function) (LLCF/LLR) and DIP switch design. LLCF/LLR can immediately warn administrators of problems with link media and provide efficient solutions to monitor the net. The DIP switches provide a disable or enable LFP function.

An override switch provides total manual control over the half/full-duplex operation in a fiber optic interface. The fiber port of the FCU-1802 series operates at 1310 nm and uses ST, SC, or WDM connectors. Models are available in multi-mode that support distances up to 2 km and single-mode that support distances up to 30km providing flexibility within any fiber media converter application.
