Carolyn Coffin of Sound Ergonomics Works with Oakworks Medical to Develop Ergonomic Ultrasound Equipment

March 30, 2012

Industry leaders collaborate to add ergonomic medical tables for vascular and cardio sonographers to Oakworks Medical Equipment line, designed to limit injury and prolong careers.

New Freedom, PA (PRWEB) March 30, 2012

Carolyn Coffin of Sound Ergonomics announced today the company´s involvement in the development of ergonomic medical tables with Oakworks Medical. Numerous studies have shown that ergonomically correct work postures are important for reducing the risk for occupational injury, and proper posture is much easier to achieve with the right workstation equipment. Not only is it important for the ultrasound system to have multiple adjustable features, but the exam room chair and table must be adjustable as well.

“In our search for economical, ergonomic and user-friendly medical exam tables, we joined with Oakworks Medical to design a line of ultrasound exam tables with numerous features that address the needs of sonographers in all specialties” Carolyn Coffin stated. Oakworks Medical ultrasound tables are configurable to meet the needs of the sonographer and have many unique features designed to support ergonomically correct work positions. The relationship with Oakworks Medical continues to grow with periodic reviews of table designs, leading to improvements to present features and identification of additional features needed for the ever-changing ultrasound technology landscape. Recently two new additions to the medical table line have addressed the needs of vascular and cardio sonographers. The new vascular model features a combination of several unique features to permit comfortable scanning for vascular reflux. The combination of reverse trendelenburg and powered fowler create conditions similar to standing, and the new split foot board with variable height permits weight bearing on one leg with safety. The Patent Pending Sliding Cardio Panel allows sonographers to adjust the size of the cut-out in the table to fit the size of the patient and is available in powered and manual versions. Carolyn went on to say “The adjustability and multiple features available on our exam tables by Oakworks Medical help us address poor work postures that result from sonographers working with tables that are not specifically designed for their exams.”
