Latest Version of Cymphonix Internet Management Helps Schools Access YouTube for Schools

April 11, 2012

Software update supports education customers looking to securely allow and manage access to rapidly growing online curricula found on YouTube.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) April 10, 2012

With schools looking more and more to enhance learning with online content and curricula, Google recently released YouTube for Schools as another alternative for such online educational content. While an exciting and promising development, unfortunately, most schools have found it problematic to access YouTube for Schools content. Why? Because their content filtering systems don´t provide an easy, secure or reliable method for allowing YouTube for Schools while blocking the remainder of YouTube.

Cymphonix, makers of the acclaimed Network Composer Internet Management line of network appliances, announced today the latest release of their XLi operating system with full support for YouTube for Schools. Customers using Network Composer will now be able to easily and quickly manage access to educational content on YouTube for Schools, while preventing and managing access to other YouTube content as necessary.

“We´re excited about this release because it´s really going to help out our education customers,” stated Adam Lowry, Cymphonix Director of Operations. “Schools are clamoring for access to YouTube for Schools, and now our customers have a great method for managing access to it. This release keeps Cymphonix on track with our mission to help customers fully manage their Internet traffic. Network Administrators know it doesn´t work to rely on block or allow, go or no go alone. As a provider of Internet Management, it just doesn´t make sense to tell our educational customers, ℠Sorry, you either take all of YouTube or none of it.´ This release makes it possible for them to pick and choose which users get what content from YouTube and we think they´ll find it really beneficial.”

In addition to supporting YouTube for Schools, the latest XLi release also includes enhancements to the Network Composer Analytics functionality by offering an improved report scheduler. Network Composer customers can update their firmware today to gain immediate access to these new features. Schools interested in learning more about Cymphonix´s support for YouTube for Schools are encouraged to contact their authorized Cymphonix reseller.

About Cymphonix

Cymphonix helps organizations get complete clarity into and full control over all their Internet traffic. As demand for content grows exponentially, network administrators´ ability to control and filter content, prioritize traffic and applications, and manage bandwidth is taxed to the extreme. Too often, they must resolve incidences and usage issues by cobbling together information from scattered locations and products. The result? Time and cost-intensive forensics and policy-setting that´s rarely based on a true understanding of the who, what, when, and where associated with the content and traffic flowing over their Internet connection. Cymphonix´s line of network appliances is a single source solution that allows network administrators to quickly, easily and clearly understand down to the minutest detail what´s happening on their connection at any given time, and then easily set and enforce policies across their network. Consequently, they spend less time on incidence response, forensics, and policy enforcement while gaining full control over content, applications, traffic, and bandwidth.
