10KWEB Receives Green HTTPS Certification

May 1, 2012

Company Gets the Green Light from Certificate Authorities

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

Internet start-up, 10KWEB, is pleased to announce that it now carries a green HTTPS digital certification or Extended Validation SSL for its website. The designation was developed as a means to counter increased phishing and online scams against online users and businesses. A green HTTPS digital certification for a company means that it is considered a legitimate, trusted business and safe from criminal hackers.

The announcement is a special achievement on 10KWEB´s part due to the difficulty of small businesses to receive such a certification. 10KWEB Co-Founder, Anthony Martins, was especially ecstatic over the announcement, saying, “The certification designates 10KWEB as a real online venture and not some fly-by-night scam which is so common on the internet now. It lets our customers know that we are here to do business, not simply take their money.”

Before receiving its green HTTPS certification, 10KWEB had to meet stringent requirements set by Certificate Authorities such as Verisign, GeoTrust and Thawte. A company must provide a legitimate business address and not just a PO Box which is required to receive your standard SSL “Padlock”. Scam artists generally use a PO Box to register their company and web address. In addition, the company had to show proof of an ongoing business taking place at the given address.

A Green or Extended Validation SSL is good for business as a marketing tool and those online businesses that carry the designation generally see increases in customer traffic and revenue.

10KWEB was created January 2012 by Anthony Martins and Thomas Bang as an online resource for aspiring blog writers and small business owners. Their website launched on March 5th, 2012 and is currently used in the United States, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, China, Morocco, Italy and New Zealand with more markets in development.
