SheerID, creators of the first technology to bridge secure private student data to commercial retailers, announces its partnership with National Student Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse, a nonprofit organization, provides educational reporting, verification, and research services to more than 3,300 colleges and universities.
Among the seemingly non-stop bad economic news for current college students and those who have recently graduated, the partnership developed with the goal of bringing more discounts to college students. SheerID’s innovative technology builds upon the Clearinghouse’s existing online enrollment verification service to enable students to instantly qualify for discounts from commercial enterprises. By instantly verifying that customers redeeming their student discounts are enrolled in college, commercial enterprises can eliminate fraud, freeing them up to offer larger student discounts. In turn, student customers can immediately obtain service and product discounts.
“We create a win for all college students” explains Jake Weatherly, CEO of SheerID. “Students can qualify instantly for discounts, even online. We bridge the gap between college students and online retailers–something that has never been done before.”
1.5 million recent college graduates are under- or unemployed. The average debt load of recent college graduates has increased 24% in the last 10 years. Meanwhile, the average salary for full time employees in their mid-20s and 30s has decreased 15%. Some college students are resorting to food stamps.
