Sandvine equips South East Asia operator for IPv6

June 6, 2012

Sandvine’s Network Policy Control system paves the way for IPv6
transition

WATERLOO, ON, June 6, 2012 /CNW/ – Sandvine, (TSX:SVC; AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband
network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced it
has successfully completed IPv6 protocol testing with its Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) in a South East Asian DSL network hosting close to two million
subscribers.

The explosive growth of web-connected devices has created a need for
more IP addresses than are possible with IPv4, thus IPv6 is being
introduced.  Accordingly, communications service providers worldwide,
including those rolling out LTE, are upgrading their networks with
IPv6-capable equipment. The migration to IPv6 is imminent, evidenced by
the number of major ISPs, content providers and networking equipment
manufacturers who are permanently launching IPv6 for their products and
services by June 2012.

“We are committed to delivering our customers the products and
intelligence they need today, so they can make strategic decisions for
tomorrow,” said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services,
Sandvine.  “Service providers, especially those in Asia, are adding a
significant number of new broadband subscribers each year and have a
real need to bring IPv6 to their networks.  Our platform scales from
the smallest to the largest networks worldwide, making us an ideal
partner for our customers as they expand and evolve their networks.”

Sandvine offers tools for service providers to analyze their network capabilities
of native and transitional IPv6 protocols (such as Teredo and 6RD).
Service providers can assess the impact on network operations and on
the quality experienced by end users. Sandvine’s PTS provides the
measurement and management of IPv4 and IPv6 traffic simultaneously for
operators of all access technologies.
