PlatformBedsOnline.Com Gives Discontinued Bed Proper Sendoff With Sweepstakes
SAN DIEGO, June 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Platform Beds Online, the internet-only retailer known for “outside-the-box” marketing, revealed early this month that they are discontinuing their best-selling platform bed model “indefinitely.” To celebrate the farewell, the company held a bed giveaway sweepstakes.
The company held a Facebook contest throughout May, in which visitors were invited to “Like” the company and enter the sweepstakes. The prize? A brand new queen-sized Kooning bed with nightstands, delivered to the winner’s home.
The “Kooning,” an exclusive frame designed and manufactured by PlatformBedsOnline.com, has been a consistent “best-seller” among the hundreds of beds to choose from within the store’s catalog, according to CEO Ben Harvey.
Says Harvey, “We have several unique, exclusive beds, but the Kooning was our first, and it’s a best-seller.”
This contest delivers the last Kooning remaining in the company’s San-Diego-based warehouse. The bed is now discontinued for an indefinite period of time.
Says Harvey, “It’s a great bed, but we were so focused on selling the Kooning that we lost sight of developing other cool beds. Our original mission was to make a lot of unique modern bed frames that were innovative in terms of design and functionality. Taking a break from the Kooning will allow us to re-focus and make some other great products.”
Asked if the Kooning will return to PlatformBedsOnline.com’s catalog, Harvey demures. “We’re going to use this hiatus to come up with some great ideas… you don’t walk away from a best-seller like the Kooning and then never pick it up again.”
The contest was the third for PlatformBedsOnline.com’s parent company, LTDOnlineStores.com. The winner of the sweepstakes, which drew in over 600 eligible contestants, was Georgia Sentell from Hurst, Texas.
