Small New York based, Made-In-The-U.S.A company, Scott Paul Technologies, recently found their copyrights and trademarks being violated on several popular Chinese and American selling sites by numerous Chinese companies.
The U.S. maker of assistive devices makes rigorously tested and certified technology for cell phones, e-readers and tablets that encourage independent living for people with disabilities and non disabled users as well, the other large market for their line.
Owners went into action when they realized that all three of their products and their copyrights and trademarks were being pirated by dozens of Chinese companies.
“We couldn´t believe we were being ripped-off by these companies in China,” said Scott Cynamon, co-owner and inventor of the popular assistive technology devices that recently made a huge splash at the Abilities Expo, New York Metro 2012 and was featured in several popular blogs and online magazines like PCMag.com., http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2387689,00.asp. “We immediately wrote to the offending websites including Google, Amazon, e-Bay and Alibaba asking them to take down the infringing products and images.”
Scott Paul Technologies product line includes the United States Patent Pending CellHandleTM , the e-HandleTM and EZ CellHolderTM that make holding and using cell phones, e-readers and tablets easier for everyone. These products can be vital for people with physical limitations or dexterity issues that make holding and using a cellphone, e-reader or tablet difficult.
“To add insult to injury,” said Paul Sklar co-owner and inventor of the technology, “not only were these Chinese companies making an inferior product that infringed upon our copyrights, but they were ripping off our logos, our packaging, and all of our photographs and artwork that we use to market our products. Moreover, they are essentially stealing American jobs by stealing our products”.
While most of the Web sites that were listing the infringing Chinese products have been taken down, the questions on Cynamon´s and Sklar´s minds are how many people ended up with an inferior product and how many American jobs have been stolen by these Chinese companies.
“It´s very disheartening to know that many people in the disabled community and others at large may be fooled by the cheap knock-offs which are costing American jobs,” said Cynamon.
Scott Paul Technologies was formed in 2009, when local New Yorkers, Cynamon and Sklar, saw a real need for people to be able to hold and use their cellphones and other devices with safe and intuitive designs. After rigorous testing they came up with a unique line of high quality products made entirely in the USA. Scott Paul Technologies products may be purchased online at http://scottpaultech.com/buy.html
