Vyatta Announces Virtual Network Certification Program
BELMONT, Calif., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Vyatta, the leader in software-based networking for virtual and cloud environments, today announced the addition of a certification component to Vyatta’s Educational Services programs. Vyatta Certified Professional is the first of two levels to be released, with Vyatta Certified Expert(1) to be released in the near future.
WHAT: The first of two certification levels, Vyatta Certified Professional is the industry's only hands-on certification designed to test a Vyatta user's ability to configure and troubleshoot virtualized and cloud networks utilizing the Vyatta Network OS. The Professional exam consists of three sections, each of which must be completed within an hour (a total of three hours for the exam): - Part 1 - 45 Multiple Choice Exam: Questions cover a variety of technologies and candidates must successfully answer a minimum of 75 percent to pass the section and to continue the exam. - Part 2 - Three Configuration Scenarios: Connecting remotely to Vyatta's virtual lab, the candidate must properly configure Vyatta within the network. - Part 3 - Three Troubleshooting Scenarios: Connecting remotely to a network of Vyatta devices, the candidate must diagnose and repair three separate network problems. WHEN: Vyatta Certified Professional is available effective immediately and Vyatta Certified Expert is scheduled for release in early Q3. WHY: A certification program of this magnitude carries with it several business and individual benefits. For businesses, ensuring that network managers are properly trained can reduce vendor customer support needs, as well as ensure the network is built and configured correctly. The completion of Vyatta's certification courses also enables individuals to demonstrate their familiarity with virtualized and cloud networks, as well as the emerging software-based networking technology, which Vyatta pioneered. QUOTES: "As companies continue the conceptual transition from physical to virtual networks, the demand for talented network architects and engineers will continue to grow. Vyatta's certification program is one line on the resume that can answer the capabilities question," said Kelly Herrell, CEO of Vyatta. "Much like Vyatta has decoupled network hardware from software, our new certification program decouples training from the classroom. Individuals can complete the exam from the comfort of their office, lab or home, while still being tested in a real-world environment." "The Vyatta certification is the only program in the industry where candidates demonstrate hands-on competency at every level of certification," said Hendy Appleton, Education Services Manager at Vyatta. "Unlike some other industry certifications where you can read a book and pass a written test, Vyatta's goal is to ensure that network engineers are truly capable of executing what they're certified to do."
