At the 3rd annual CoolCalifornia Small Business Awards, Cibola Systems was honored by the California Air Resources Board for the firm´s commitment to green energy and a green economy. By reducing their impact on the environment, this award acknowledges the voluntary, proactive measures taken by Cibola Systems to promote action and awareness that is good for business, and good for the climate.
Out of a total of 78 worthy applicants, Cibola Systems was one of 16 winners selected for their achievements in carbon reduction and renewable energy. CoolCalifornia is an organization comprised of both public and private sector entities, including state government agencies, universities, and non-profits organizations. The purpose behind CoolCalifornia is to provide the information and tools necessary for Californians to limit their impact on the environment and lower overall costs.
At the forefront of actions taken by Cibola Systems was the purchase and renovation of their office building, which earned a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating for sustainability. In accordance with this rating, Cibola agreed to a two-year contract to obtain 50% of their electricity and power from certified renewable energy sources. Water consumption was curtailed by as much as 75%, by harvesting rain water, implementing a drip irrigation system, and installing efficient plumbing fixtures. Combined with intelligent lighting, a tankless water heater, cloud computing, and Energy Star appliances, Cibola exhibited the climate-friendly actions reflected by this award.
Lisa Perrine, CEO of Cibola Systems, expressed her perspective on the award, stating that “our commitment to protecting the environment extends beyond our own workplace to the consulting services we provide.
