With the support of numerous businesses, staff and clients, the office of Dr. Amy Brooks recently reached their 10 year anniversary. Within this decade, the oral surgery practice has grown steadily, providing compassionate high-quality care to patients of all ages in western North Carolina. Not to be overshadowed by the recent economic forces, the team at Dr. Brooks’ office historically maintains an environment of valuable service.
“Each patient is an individual with unique needs and baseline health. I try my best to consider the whole person and maintain the individual’s well-being in planning treatment,” said Dr. Brooks regarding her approach to oral surgery.
Proudly based in downtown Morganton, the professional team at Dr. Brooks’ office consists of experienced administrators and accredited oral surgical assistants. The group primarily performs office-based procedures such as IV conscious sedation in conjunction with removal of wisdom teeth, surgical exposure of teeth, placement of dental implants and biopsy of oral lesions. The office uses state-of-the-art digital technology and NGenuity Criticare TM Scholar monitors.
Though the practice opened its doors in 2002, the current office on Green St. was built in 2006. It is a modern, spacious and comfortable facility. The new building allows for an inviting reception room furnished with NC based upholstered furniture and case goods, ample workstations, comfortable staff offices, airy treatment rooms with skylights and a private conference room.
“The field of oral surgery is complex but most importantly, it is a specialty of dentistry. The oral surgical residency I attended at Louisiana State University in New Orleans was 6 years long, following 4 years of dental school at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was required to graduate from medical school as well to broaden my educational background. Therefore, I maintain both North Carolina dental and medical licenses,” said Dr. Brooks. There are less than a handful of women in North Carolina with such credentials.
In 2005, Dr. Brooks completed accreditation for Diplomate status of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Since 2002, she has maintained privileges at Grace Hospital and membership in the American Dental Association and American Medical Association along with the Western Piedmont Dental Society and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Brooks is certified in Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS). In April 2011, the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery published an article by Dr. Amy Brooks, “Delayed Complications of Tooth Extraction in Patients Taking Warfarin, Antibiotics and Other Medications.” April 2011, 69: pages 977-979.
“The mission is not only to be an eminent oral surgery office but an oral surgery office that is beneficial to the community,” states Dr. Brooks. In that regard, Dr. Brooks has steadfastly supported events promoting good health and community involvement such as the Morganton Service League 5K/10K HOP Race, Morganton Downtown Development Association events, Art of Chocolate, Red, White and Bluegrass, and Morganton Rotary Club.
Dr. Brooks’ office is located at 320 S. Green Street, Morganton, NC, (828) 438-1010. Her practice is limited to oral surgery. For more information view http://www.drbrooksnc.com
