Industrial-Sized Robotic Arm Goes Into Final Weekend On Kickstarter

(PRWEB) August 17, 2012

Charlotte, N.C. – Cardboard Robot, the first open source industrial-sized cardboard robotic arm, has exceeded its goal of $10,000 on the popular crowdfunding website Kickstarter.

The funding campaign began on July 6 and has raised an average of $315 a day. The project successfully met its goal on August 6. There are still three days left to meet the stretch goal of $15,000 and many great rewards for backers.

“I am excited that we met our initial goal. The Cardboard Robot has so many uses and I am interested to see what people come up with,” said creator Ken Ihara. “For every $3,000 raised, I pledged to donate one robot to a school. Now I get to give a couple away.”

Currently, Cardboard Robot has over 100 backers. With so many uses for the arm, there are many different types of backers, from science teachers to techies to DIY dads.

The Kickstarter campaign officially ends on August 20th, 3:23 A.M. EDT. To pre-order your Cardboard Robot and to follow the campaign, visit their Kickstarter page.
