EPTAC Corporation´s, Vice President & Technical Director, Leo Lambert, along with Umut Tosun, CTO, ZESTRON America, will present “Challenges of Conversion: Leaded to Lead-Free Operation” workshop at the IPC Medical Industries Technical Conference to be held at the Customer Visit Center at the Philips Healthcare, Andover, MA on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 as part of a three day technical conference sponsored by the IPC.

EPTAC Corporation´s, Vice President & Technical Director, Leo Lambert, along with Umut Tosun, CTO, ZESTRON America, will present “Challenges of Conversion: Leaded to Lead-Free Operation” workshop at the IPC Medical Industries Technical Conference to be held at the Customer Visit Center at the Philips Healthcare, Andover, MA on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 as part of a three day technical conference sponsored by the IPC.

With more than 30 years of experience and special expertise in metallurgy and soldering, Leo Lambert oversees the content of course offerings and provides expert consultation as well as develops, troubleshoots and audits manufacturing processes. Leo is the co-author and Master Instructor for one of the most widely-utilized industry training programs IPC-A-600 “Acceptability of Printed Boards”.

Umut Tosun is the Application Technology Manager at ZESTRON America, and has published in leading electronics manufacturing publications and presented technical papers and studies at international conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Hamburg, Germany.

With the July 2014 European deadline for regulatory compliance fast approaching all organizations in the medical sector with global sourcing and distribution should be diligently preparing to meet the new regulations.

The “Challenges of Conversion: Leaded to Lead-Free Operation” workshop will present the challenges of converting to lead-free from a leaded operation. The instructors will provide working knowledge that you need for implementation of lead-free electronics manufacturing processes. Discussions will include engineering challenges and solutions, materials selection, reliability, testing and supply chain control. Process awareness issues based upon the conversion will be covered, including specification changes implemented with new alloy introduction and differences in the metallurgy.

Attendees will take home practical applications from technical experts who will share lessons learned from their experiences with the leaded-to-lead-free conversion process in their own operations, and those of their suppliers.
