PICA Manufacturing Solutions, a global company that specializes in the design, manufacturing and assembly of printed circuit boards, is improving the efficiency of its supply chain using ASAP Systems Passport to track hundreds of parts in real time as they move from vendors through manufacturing, production and assembly in PICA´s U.S., Canadian and Asian locations. With complete QuickBooks integration, ASAP´s inventory management and asset-tracking solutions use barcode and RFID technology with Motorola mobile barcode scanners and smartphones to streamline inventory management and asset tracking.

Prior to working with ASAP Systems, PICA used QuickBooks to track the movement of its parts. Although a leader in business accounting software, QuickBooks alone does not handle inventory management effectively. As a result, PICA was experiencing high levels of inaccurate inventory counts at many of its locations, which meant delays in assemblies due to missing inventory or teams running out of parts during assembly. In other cases, the company was overstocking on parts, which meant PICA had to make a lot of inventory adjustments at the end of the year.

ASAP Systems offered PICA a complete inventory tracking solution, giving PICA the ability to scan and update inventory directly in the stockroom or warehouse. Employees now have real-time information on inventory levels at the company´s worldwide locations and know where parts are at anytime.

“This software is helping us better understand our inventory and saving time on counts,” said Justin Shevelow, systems manager for PICA. “In the past, we´ve had to do multiple adjustments when taking assembly parts out of inventory. We´re now more efficient because we have greater awareness of the status of our inventory throughout the company, regardless of location.”

In addition, ASAP´s inventory system gives PICA employees and management the ability to share information by easily creating custom reports that can be exported to common file types (PDF, Excel, Word, etc.). These reports help management to more accurately forecast for purchasing – creating a more lean supply chain for the company.

“We´ve worked with many manufacturing companies,” said Elie Jean Touma, president and CEO of ASAP Systems. “Every company has its own unique requirements for inventory management. Our software works well because we´ve developed it with a modular design, akin to building blocks. Customers add only the features they need, and as they grow and evolve, they can further customize, adding more down the road.”
