Telerik Releases Microsoft Platform Guidance 2012
New Reference Document is Go-To Prescriptive Guidance for .NET Developers Building on Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and HTML5
Waltham, MA (PRWEB) September 18, 2012
Telerik, an end-to-end provider of software application, lifecycle and content management solutions, today announced the availability of its 2012 Microsoft Platform Guidance. The latest reference document, assembled by Telerik technology leaders and reviewed by industry expert Andrew Brust of Blue Badge Insights, highlights best practices and tips for .NET developers looking to leverage the latest Microsoft technologies. The guidance document is currently available for download at http://www.telerik.com/platformguidance.aspx.
“We first created the Microsoft Platform Guidance to help developers make the right choices for their technology needs,” said Chris Sells, Vice President, Telerik Developer Tools. “We did not realize just how popular it would be — having been shared hundreds of times socially and being at the top of the list for Google searches. With the pending release of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Visual Studio 2012 and the growth in HTML5, it only made sense to update our guidelines to address the newest platforms.”
The goal of the document is to provide clear, direct guidance when picking a .NET platform. Platforms are suggested based on their ability to provide the most benefit for specific application scenarios relative to other .NET options. Platforms discussed within the guidance document include:
- Desktop Applications — WPF
- Dashboard/Reporting Applications — ASP.NET MVC with HTML5
- Data-Driven Websites — ASP.NET MVC and Web API
- Interactive Web Applications (Forms over Data) — ASP.NET WebForms
- Mobile Website — ASP.NET MVC HTML5
- Tablet Applications — XAML and .NET
“I´ve worked with .NET and its community since the Beta days in 2001,” said Andrew Brust, Founder and CEO of Blue Badge Insights. “The one constant over the years of .NET´s evolution has been requests from developers for guidance on which parts of the stack to use for specific types of applications, and with the release of Windows 8, this has become only more so. That´s why I´m proud to have collaborated with Telerik on this document, from inception through this most recent update. It´s an excellent, comprehensive guide that avoids product promotion and serves as a valuable resource to the .NET developer community.”
