Promet Source Launches Mobile App Tracking Chicago Transit

Allowing users to find all CTA stops and arrival times

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 18, 2012

Promet Source, web and mobile application development specialists, today launched CTAR, an iOS augmented reality mobile app that provides arrival times, locations, and directions for CTA trains and buses, augmenting the live camera view from a mobile phone.

CTAR uses augmented reality software to overlay Chicago train and bus arrival times over a live camera view of the real world. Not only will a commuter know when the next bus or train arrives, but also which stop or station is the nearest. By merely pointing a phone in a direction, train lines and bus routes appear alongside their relative distances.

“Promet Source is thrilled that the City of Chicago and the Chicago Transit Authority embraces the open data movement and open government movements,” said Andy Kucharski, CEO of Promet Source. “By allowing innovative companies like us to use this data it creates a tremendous opportunity for creativity and gives consumers choices to use this information in ways they would never have been able to realize before. We are happy to move the CTA station location and public transportation arrival information to a cutting edge augmented reality interface.”

CTAR, available on the iTunes store, is the first of several augmented reality apps in the works at Promet Source, and one among many mobile apps launched. Promet Source´s mobile development services include Android, iOS, PhoneGap, and Titanium applications.
