Flightcom Extends Wireless Headset Communication for Ground Support with New Multi-Radio Digital Intercom

September 24, 2012

System provides communication interoperability for ground crew efficiency and safety.

PORTLAND, Ore. (PRWEB) September 24, 2012

Flightcom, the leader in wireless headset communication systems for ground support, today announced the availability of its new FL-400 Series Digital Intercom, which enables Flightcom wireless headset systems to be interfaced with up to four radios and four additional devices, such as cell phones and global positioning system (GPS) units. The new product supports more than 400 different radio models to provide interoperability between multiple crews and ground control radio, improving operational efficiencies and worker safety. The FL-400 Series is compatible with existing Flightcom communication headsets and can be used with new or existing radios.

“The new Digital Intercom integrates into Flightcom systems that use wireless headsets to provide continuous hands-free, full-duplex local team communication for pushback, deicing, cargo and maintenance operations,” said Mike Walsh, Director of Business Development at Flightcom. “For example, using our wireless headsets, deicing truck drivers can now monitor and initiate radio communications with up to four different radios and still have the ability to communicate with the bucket hands-free over their wireless headset.”

Flightcom wireless communication headsets help prevent costly aircraft and GSE damages, improve turn-around time, reduce hearing loss claims, eliminate costly repairs to the wire commonly experienced with wired headsets and enhance work crew efficiency and safety via continuous communication and the ability to provide real-time verbal warnings. Other features include:

  •     Up to 26 dB of hearing protection.
  •     1,600 foot line-of-sight range.
  •     Rechargeable battery: 24-hour continuous use / 2-hour charge time.
  •     Completely wireless self-contained headset. No belt-stations, with cumbersome wires that break or snag, are required.
  •     Operates from -40 to +158F.
  •     Hands-free, full-duplex operation.
  •     DECT wireless technology for crystal-clear, interference-free encrypted communications, available in portable, mobile, or fixed installations.

When combined with Flightcom wireless base stations and headsets, the FL-400 Series supports up to 40 wireless headset users per system. In addition, the Digital Intercom offers a variety of features that improve control and ease-of-use, including the ability to completely program and adjust radio activity, priority, volume and squelch from the faceplate to meet each customer´s specific operational requirements. Furthermore, the unit provides 90 dB SNR audiophile-quality sound and supports multiple waterproof remote control heads for outside installation. The FL-400 is engineered to be rugged for mounting in or on a vehicle dashboard, and runs on 12VDC power. The unit preserves customers´ existing investment in mobile radios while providing a “future-proof” package that will accommodate the addition of future communication equipment.

The Flightcom FL-400 Series Digital Intercoms are available now for new and existing customers. Flightcom wireless headset systems will be demonstrated in booth #1812 at the International Airport Equipment Manufacturers´ Association International Airport Expo, Sep. 25-27, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nev.
