On October 11, 2012, airport travel servicer Surf Patch responds to an article which discusses both sides of the debate on whether or not elite fliers should be able to clear airport security.

An article by Smarter Travel reported that many people agree and disagree on whether or not the option to clear airport security lines should still be available. According to the article, some consumers and travelers appreciate the idea of being able to bypass airport security lines. Some politicians, namely Sen. Ben Nelson, argue that “elite” travelers should not have the privilege of skipping lines since they pay the same rates as normal travelers. In the article, Nelson argues airport fees and airport security are two separate things since airport security lines are run by the TSA through government funding. As per his proposed Air Passenger Fairness Act, Nelson wishes to eliminate elite airport flier lines to equalize the airport security process for all travelers.

Takara Licausi, world traveler, agrees with supporters of VIP airport security lines stating, “There are many busy people out there whose jobs center around their ability to get from city to city, state to state on a regular basis.” Licausi adds that travel cards are no different than membership to your local grocery store, “VIP access lines and cards just function the way that a retail rewards program does; it gives people special privilege for their frequent travel without hindering the economy or function of the TSA or the airports.”

In response to the consumer side of the debate, Licausi stated, “While most travelers pay the same rates for travel, frequent travelers are willing to pay a little more to get to where they need to go for a business conference or seminar,” Surf Patch is one such company that specializes in providing its customers with quick-access way of getting through airport security at select airports. “It´s not right to deprive those travelers their ability to conduct business since many of them are paying for an extra VIP service,” says Licausi
