Digital Defence’s Secure Mobile software gains Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 197 accreditation and appoints CEO in Americas
NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Digital Defence, a specialist in mobile data security has gained FIPS 197 accreditation for three methods of Advanced Encryption Standards (AES). Digital Defence’s Secure Mobile solution ensures that users of mobile devices are safe-guarding their data.
Data security was simpler when systems or devices were isolated and had well-defined boundaries, so the number of entry points to a system could be tightly controlled. In today’s world, business value is found in more open and connected systems, and is increased when more data is available to be analyzed – making security more difficult and costly. The more devices connecting to a system, the more vulnerable that system becomes because each type of device has a different way it connects. Data security is also more complicated with more systems using the same data source for different types of analytics, yet each system has its own unique vulnerabilities and consumes data differently.
When considering security, companies have had to decide on the trade-offs they are willing to make between how vulnerable they allow their systems to be versus how much intelligence they want to get from a system. When harnessed to its full potential, an intelligent system that’s connected in an endless loop from edge to back-end can reach beyond the notion of “trade-offs” to a system that’s both open and secure.
Secure Mobile goes beyond the first step of password protecting a device; it encrypts every file while also creating access control at communications and application levels. Once installed, Secure Mobile encrypts and decrypts at kernel level in the background, thus keeping the whole solution very user friendly while offering enterprise strength.
Consistent with Digital Defence’s aim to be closer to its customers, they are investing in the American market by appointing Larry Klimczyk as CEO, Americas. Larry joins Digital Defence with the unique experience of managing international mobility solutions as an enterprise client, original equipment manufacturer, independent software vendor and services provider.
‘Mobile data security becoming an ever increasing concern of CIOs, yet our recent surveys showing that less than 1 in 20 smartphones have security software, there is a lot of unprotected data that is subjected to theft or abuse. We are pleased to be expanding with our customers and partners into America with a powerful yet very cost-effective mobile data solution’, Larry Klimczyk, CEO Americas
