Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD): For the third quarter of 2012, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) reported revenue of US$1.27 billion, compared with revenue of US$1.69 billion in the same quarter of 2011, a decrease of 33%. On a GAAP basis, net loss for the third quarter was US$157 million (or US$0.21 per share), compared with net income of US$97 million (or US$0.13 per share), in the prior-year quarter. On a non-GAAP basis, net loss was US$150 million (or US$0.20 per share), for the quarter, compared with net income of US$110 million (or US$0.15 per share), a year ago. What’s more, Advanced Micro Devices announced a restructuring plan with a view to reduce operating expenses and better position the company competitively. In addition, Advanced Micro Devices plans to cut approximately 1,800 of its 11,813 employees in a bid to take its first step to profitability during the slump in the PC market. The company said the process will be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. By market close, shares of Advanced Micro Devices slumped US$0.44 (or -16.79%) to US$2.18 on hefty volume of 9.05 million shares, or 3.6 times its average daily volume. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC): Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) reported third-quarter revenue of US$13.5 billion, which was flat from a year ago. On a GAAP basis, net income for the quarter was US$3.0 billion, compared with net income of US$2.8 billion in second-quarter, an increase of 5.1%. Earnings per share were US$0.58 for the third quarter, compared with US$0.54 in the prior-year quarter. In the last trading session, Intel shares crossed below the 50-day moving average and slipped 1.87% to US$21.26. Its price, as of the latest close, was up 0.2% compared with the 52-week low and was 37.7% below the 52-week high. There were 55.60 million shares of Intel exchanging hands as compared to its average daily volume of 51.50 million shares. Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:MRVL): On October 18, Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:MRVL) announced the company now lowered its net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 to be in the range of US$765 million to US$785 million, compared with previous forecast of between US$800 million to US$850 million.
